Our vacation scheme will show you what it is like to be a trainee at Gouldens and how our training system works.
You will be given actual work and not just a diet of seminars, visits, presentations and group
exercises. You will be taken to meetings, draft documents and prepare
letters. You may well be surprised at what you are given to do and how
well you do it.
You will meet trainees, assistants and partners at a range of social events.
At the end of your two weeks we want you to go away with a real feeling of having worked in a law firm and an understanding of how Gouldens and its training works.
We run six two week vacation schemes for lawyers during the summer and two two week schemes for non-lawyers during both the Christmas vacation and the Easter vacation. We pay an allowance of at least £250.00 per week.
Each vacation scheme has approximately six undergraduates. You will spend some time sharing an office with a solicitor but most of your time sharing an office with another vacation student. We establish a central pool of actual work to be done by vacation students but you are also encouraged to introduce yourself to lawyers in the firm with a view to experiencing particular kinds of work that you think you might enjoy. You will also find, even within a two week period, that you receive repeat work from particular lawyers.
Do a vacation scheme at Gouldens and you will understand the difference.
